Global and Local Document Settings

You can determine almost all aspects of a notebook's formatting and behavior. For example, you can set the following:

  • Size, leading, and alignment of text
  • Spacing of rows and columns of a matrix
  • Distance, absolute or relative, between a base character and its superscript
  • Hyphenation threshold
  • Automatic and manual page breaking
  • Size of the window that contains the notebook

These and hundreds of other properties of a notebook are defined by options. Editing these options is straightforward and quick using the Option Inspector.
